By the way that means bad experience but also what you have heard compared with other places. Like was it professional or was it good pay or what about holidays and insurance? If you like you can put some comments. Very Happy

Gotta be Smith's.

Company motto: Why work for one of the big 4 with a guaranteed salary, benefits and apartment when you can pay us $15,000 to teach English in Japan unencumbered by any of those things?

how GEOS manages to survive as a company never ceases to amaze me. just a bunch of unskilled arselickers running things, who think the way to operate a business is to lie to, cheat and steal from staff, the government, and customers.

(I'm not bitter)

4000 teachers can't be that stupid to work for a lemon. I can tell you more positives about NOVA than negatives.

The company's name is Interac by the way.

Rolling Stone,

how do off the boat teachers at NOVA or GEOS with a BA and no CELTA or certification know what is professional or not?

Teachers are professional by their training and experience, not schools. Schools are well-managed or badly managed. Bosses are incompetent etc.

Rolling Stone,

how do eikaiwa teachers with a BA and no CELTA or certification know what is professional.

Teachers are professional, not schools. Schools are well-managed or badly managed.

i think a school can be professional if the manager is professional or if the school is badly managed then maybe it wouldn't be professional. I think you can ask if the school is professinal. Maybe you being pedantic. Are you being pedantic?

I can't figure out which company is the worst, but the best teachers working for those companies probably aren't the ones coming to this forum and bitching incessantly about the raw deals that the big companies are giving their teachers. I'm not saying criticism of the big companies is bad or unwarranted, but too much of it gives those thinking about coming here to work the idea that most ESL teachers in Japan are a bunch of overworked, underpaid, bitter arseholes made that way by the companies they work for. If even one person with a lot of potential to become a good teacher is discouraged from coming here by the constant negativity posted here, that's a shame.
