I have noticed a demand for ESOL teachers in FE Colleges throughout the UK- how does one go about applying for these jobs? In person, mail, email, phone? And what do the colleges who do the hiring like to see in the CV and cover letter?

Often they have a standard form which they'll send to you by request. They won't pay expenses for interview from abroad though! The part-time jobs tend to be advertised in local papers, but I imagine the competition for full-time tenured posts would be very fierce. Most contracts will just be for the academic year, so it might be a risk relocating on that basis.
Think you'll need to show an awareness of differences between EFL and ESOL, but nothing that a bit of web research won't help with. Ask Will on this forum; he'll know the latest buzz-words! |
