Hey, I am wrecking my brains out trying to understand what you need to do to practice ELT in Canada! I have looked at the TESOL.CA website and it's even more confusing! I only want to work in Quebec, so do I need to be certifed by TESOL.ca or can I just take my 3 year degree in ELT and CELTA and work! also my degree and celta was not obtained in canada, is that a problem? I have a work permit though!

PLEASE HELP!!

Try sending a PM to 'deconstructor'. He teaches ESL in Quebec (Montreal, I think).

Canada is a pain to work in, if you are not Canadian. It is a little easier if you are part of the Commonwealth and way more difficult if you are not. If you are not a native English speaker it is close to impossible. You have to go through Citizenship and Immigration Canada to obtain a work visa. Check out: http://www.cic.gc.ca/

LSC has a job posting in the employment section of ESL Cafe right now. Go look at it.

The bad news: at the end they say (in capital letters, no less) that they will not even consider anyone who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or otherwise authorized (e.g. WHV) to work in Canada.

Don't see why any other school would be different.
