Once a year, or every two years, I write an article such as this. It is written to help people who love to teach, and who want to teach in Costa Rica, find their way.

1. I am pretty sure I am the highest paid teacher in C.R.
2. I am probably the highest paid teacher in Central America.
3. I read a 'teacher wanted' ad in the States today...I earn 50% more than the ad offered.
4. I do not have a Tofel or any other certificate.
5. I do not have a college degree.
6. I don't have a High School Diploma.
7. I have tons of experience in the business world..including Banks.
8. I could hardly order dinner in Spanish when I started here.
9. I am really great at selling myself.
10 I am a very very honest with my clients.
11.I was NEVER a teacher in the States.
12.Now, I only teach individuals.

No generalization about a school here will ever hold up over time. If nothing else, the place is to flaky.(remember...most streets don't have names)

Teaching English...is the fastest growing business in the world. Not semi-conductors or I-Pods...it's English.

Costa Rica is not just nuts for English....it is in a state of lunacy.

Everyone wants classes...rich people, poor people, bankers, teachers, hookers, ministers.

Costa Rica is loaded with Lawyers, but there is no Law Journal for them...so what can you expect in this profession....there is NO reliable information.

Soooooooooo....if you love to teach.....come to Costa Rica and teach. You will find your way...if you look. You will not have any guarantees...but I don't see how anyone can miss with half a personality. Leave you preconceptions and teaching methods at home and come here...have fun...and keep in mind. COSTA RICA REALLY REALLY REALLY NEEDS YOU!

If only I would have figured this out sooner.
