Which of the following are good companies to work for?
Wing Institute Inc.?
Heart English School?
Interac?
ALTRIA?

I know they are a dispatch company and so for those who are against all dispatch companies please do not hi-jack this thread.
I like working as an ALT because of the positive impact I have on so many children.
Anyway any comments would be deeply appreciated!

I don't think anyone is against dispatch agencies per se, but what I am certainly against is the exploitation of foreign workers. Sadly many dispatch companies thrive on this.

ANYWAY you should 100% not work through Interac. I don't know any of the others.

During my time in Japan I did find a couple of good places to go about getting ALT work. First of all you should check out the Tokyo governments ALT program. It's based at the government offices in Shinjuku I think?

They rarely have full time work but the part time stuff is well paid.

This scheme is also far better than most dispatch companies:

As I doubt I'll be teaching in a Japanese school ever again I'm happy to share the love Very Happy

They are all breaking the law, John. Read about it here:

Altia (not Altria) seem to have a far better reputation than interac, not that that is difficult.

Is this the broad consensus? Does no one have anything good to say about INTERAC? One discouraging thing I find about INTERAC is they offer zero subsidy for flight or rent. They do have people helping to find you housing, but it is assumed you will be paying 100% of everything, including key money. ALTIA at least picks up the tab for key deposit and they ensure none of their ALTs pay more than aprox 60,000/month rent, which seems fair.

INTERAC also does not reward applicants with prior ESL/ALT experience or teaching credentials, everyone starts out at the same base 250,000/month pay, in some cases its 230,000. Conversely. ALTIA does make an effort to pay a bit more to those who have higher qualifications or experience.

I've also heard countless complaints about how INTERAC pays its workers, and when they pay.

I knew two former JETs who went on to work with ALTIA, and both had positive reviews and stayed on for more than 1 year.

Altia's good reputation is unfounded because they are also illegally dispatching teachers. Outsourcing teachers to elementary, junior, and senior highschools is illegal. Altia has a dispatch licence. Why don't they legally dispatch them? Because teachers don't know that they are getting screwed by them.

I can't provide a direct link to this, but check their site under About Us. Gyomu itaku contracts like this are unlawful.
