Costa Rica has more teaching opportunities, but at the same time, less chance of qualifying as it's a popular destination. Panama has some opportunities at lower pay.
San Jose and Panama City are about the same as far as cost-of-living, and quality of life. There's quite a bit more anti-americanism in the streets in Panama than in Costa Rica.

Could you tell me about working issues, like visas?
do most people work illegally?
If so, how does it work when you leave and they see that you have been there for six months or a year? Are you fined?
HOw is the border crossing between Panama and Costa Rica? I heard that they are very strict. |
