Hi,

I'm flying into Madrid on the 5th. I'm doing a TEFL course Aug 7th near the Santiago Bernabeu metro stop.

My apartment hunting plan is a bit fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants. I've been checking the classifieds and my best bet (i think) is to land then find an apartment to rent. Hard to secure a place sight unseen and half a world away. I'm staying in Madrid after the course and I'm travelling there very skint, skint, so I'll have to find the cheapest place i can afford.

Can anyone recommend cheap hostals near convenient metro lines? Is August a good time to find a semi-permanent apartment? Am i a fool for cutting things so close to the bone? ok. never mind, don't answer that. Smile

Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated. I'm nervous and scared so please be gentle and kind.

thanks.

I found this and on the map it seems soooo close to my TEFL school on 16 Orense. The flat to share is on Reina Mercedes, 8 - 28020 Madrid. Is this a safe area?

I posted this a couple weeks back after Moore gave me the luquo website and if your TEFL school is close to the Santiago Bernabeu stop, then this flat is great. I couldn't believe it was so close to EBc - that's the school I'm attending and if you're also with them (Santiago Bernabeu metro), then this flat is great. I ended up staying with friends because they wanted a third person and I didn't have to pay a deposit , just the month's rent . I've seen this flat and it is very close to the school, and they really want an English speaking roommate, so good luck.
