|
|
Hello everyone!
I just got the notification that I got the JET job! I am very grateful for that!
However, I want to know if anyone has any good tips for me on the following subjects :
1) Packing -> Should I bring kitchenware?
2) Pets -> Can I bring my dog to Japan?
3) Internet service at Japanese place -> I am not sure how to get service as my laptop IS MY ONLY CONNECTION TO EVERYTHING! I would die without it! |

1) no
2) no
3) you'll be fine
You need to learn the JET motto RIGHT NOW: Every Situation is Different. THE ONLY person who will be able to actually answer 99.99999% of your questions is your predecessor or supervisor once you get a placement in a few months. Until then, don't bother asking anything specific to your job because the asnwer will always be the same: ESID. |

I'd recommend that you start by searching some of the topics you mentioned. If you need help (it can be confusing for some) please PM me and I'll try to recombobulate you.
Search (ALL terms): bring list (also look at the stickies)
Search (ANY term): Internet connection ADSL YahooBB NTT
Search (ALL terms): pet quarantine
Make sure you narrow your search to the "Japan" forum.
If you need anything else, give a yell!
BTW, gratz. |

I would not bring a dog, too many headaches.
Internet connection? This is high speed heaven, you're coming to the right place. |

Join the yahoo group angelswithfur for animal-specific issues.
Bringing critters over is not a big deal. There's a fair amount of paperwork and shots to get done, but quarantine has gone to 12 hours. Used to be 14 days.
Check into procedures required to get your pet back to Canada, though...
I brought my cat over from Canada 3 years ago, and it was easy. Now we have to move to the UK, and that is... a pile of horse doodoo. |

Yes, sorry, I actually did all the research AFTER I posted this a night ago. I am scheduled to leave on July 2005, but I have always been a master planner. I think that I have all the things I need to prioritize! But you are right : NO PETS. I don't think I want to bring my poor little dog through all that hassle.....my parents love him off anyway, but you know, I wanted to bring him just bc it would be nice to have something that I love from home, but you're right...why put the darling pet through unnecessary trouble ? Thanks again! |
