Hi all,
Please don't think I'm ignorant when I ask this but-I'm wondering about gyms/fitness and leisure centres in Japan. Going to the gym is part of my life-style (helps me keep fit..and keep my sanity!) and I want to get a membership somewhere, wherever I end up getting placed next year. What are the gyms like? Are there gyms in all the cities/small towns/rural areas?
Thanks
Krista

Yes, where there is a union such as www.nambufwc.org there is usually a gym. Just joking.

Konami has gyms all over Japan. Swimming pools are aplenty. Just crack opent the phone book when you get to your town and ask someone to help you find one. You could ask the polcemen sitting in their little office beside your new town's railroad station about finding a "supotso kurabu". The police are there more to help with directions than anything else and they will have a large map of the town there to help you out. It is their job to do such things and you pay taxes to pay their wages.
