I have been contacted by Gatways in Singapore for a post teaching ESL in Singapore Government schools. I have been told they have been appointed by the Singapore Government to place Expat teachers. Any idea if this would be a good avenue to pursue and if this is a reputable offer? ?

Contact the Ministry directly!

There have been a number of shady characters advertising vacancies "on behalf of MOE, Singapore" and they have taken degrees, passports etc. they have a warning on their website about it.

The MOE are pretty good at getting back to you, so just ask if they are actually using Gateway as an agent, as you wanted to work for them.

Gateway is ok and legit.

I applied for the position but was knocked back because I dont have a Bachelors in English. But I do have ESL teaching experience.
They pay better than MOE. Good luck. Do you know which school you will be posted to?

Thanks for the Info I have contacted the MOE and they will get back to me. It seems to be legit but just want to check. They have not offered me a post just want to interview me, but before I pursue I just want to check out and make sure it is legit. I will keep you posted. I have taught in International schools for almost 20 years so this would be a change- but at least WAY more secure then most International school jobs.
