How specifically does this degree improve teaching and would you say it made you a much better teacher or just a little bit better? Is a lot of it common sense or are there state secrets? Wink I've often wondered.

I did my teacher training a long time ago, but know that I was underprepared for teaching reality. That took at least 2 years in the trenches. And as education is such an evolving [should that be revolving?] industry, if you don't keep up with things you quickly become a dinosaur.
Recent graduates I've worked with seem well prepared for all but the intensive workload that comes with the job in a developed country. Knowing their subject areas well and being able to draw on a range of methodologies are major areas contributing to success in the classroom.
