I'm sorry if this topic has already been discussed on another thread but I haven't found any info in my brief search of this forum. Which city has more jobs to offer, Cairo or Alexandria? And in your opinion, which one is better (living, people, housing, etc.)? I'm a westerner by the way if that matters any.
thanks |

Yes, we have covered this many times in the past. I suggest that you use 'Alexandria' as your search topic because many threads have moved into the topic of which is best.
Since Cairo is many times larger than Alex, I'm confident that there are more jobs in Cairo. I'd say that the choice of which place to live in depends on your interests and requirements.
If you want to fly out regularly, Cairo has the airport. (no, there are no ferries out of Alex - as is repeated reported on the Thorntree. But there is good train service between Cairo and Alex...) Cairo has better access to more interesting ancient Egyptian sites, since in terms of the country's history, Alex is a 'modern' city founded by the Greeks. Though if you have an interest in Greek/Roman history, Alex is the place. As a larger city, Cairo provides more options, both workwise and socially.
But... as I'm sure Sekhmet will come on and tell you, Alex is preferred by many. It is quieter, cleaner, less polluted, and it does have beaches - even if the Med is a bit too polluted for my taste.
IMHO, I prefer Cairo.
