|

Hi all,
I was just wondering what people thought of or know about Cambridge International School in Dubai (Al-Garhoud disctrict). Is it a good school to work in? What is management like? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Also, can anyone give me their impressions of Dubai (traffic aside) including what an average price for a 1-2 bedroom apartment would cost???
Many thanks in advance.[/b] |

I remember replying to a post like this a year ago. Maybe you can find it with a search. I don't know much about the school or its management but the consensus a year ago was that the rent allowance wouldn't get anything habitable at all. Since rents have continued to soar since then, I don't imagine that situation has changed for the better.
The going rate these days would be about AED60,000 per year (rents are normally quoted for the year here), which I seem to remember is about double what CIS were offering.
Here's a link to the Gulf News ads if you'd like to browse for yourself.

I don't know about Cambridge specifically, though it's part of a large group of schools (GEMS) who have recently increased their tuition, citing teacher salaries as one of the reasons. Would be great to see what they were paying, versus what they are offering new staff. |
