Hey, I'm a newbie looking to find bearable work in Guadalaja or Mexico City preferably.
I understand that the best approach is to show up in person, with money, to job search on a tourist Visa. I also understand that it is always best to work legally. Is it possible to go to Mexico on a tourist Visa and later acquire a work Visa once employment is found? Or does Mexican bureaucracy make this unreasonably difficult?
My Spanish is fairly good, and I have a little experience with Latin American bureaucracy, but I don't know if that matters. |

If you understand it to be the best approach, why do you ask if it is possible?
You do have the right understanding. Don�t worry, Immigration is easy and fair in most places. Dress nicely, smile and be patient. Get your documents apostilled at home before you come down. Search for this word and you will find a mountain of good info.
What is your education and work experience?
BTW, Visa is a credit card, a visa is an immigration document. |

Go read back through some other threads on this forum. There's a qwealth of material on the FM3 work visa and getting your docs apostilled.
With that in hand, yes, you show up, find work, and hope the employer sponsors you. There's also the independent FM3 route to take. |

I have a BA in Span Lit, and four years of tutoring/scribing/audio experience (I worked for a DRC through college).
I'm completing the Cambridge CELTA program at St. Giles in SF this Summer. |

I agree. Unless you list something like serial killer, drug addict, or child molester on your CV, your qualifications and experience should put you on the short list at many schools where you apply.
It's standard procedure to enter the country on a tourist visa and then exchange it for a work visa later.
In my opinion, the best approach to finding a job is to show up in person. However, it certainly doesn't hurt to try to make some contacts before you arrive. |
