Anybody out there know if the Oman Ministry of Education ( or perhaps the institutions themselves ) have set an upper age limit on experienced ESL teachers wanting to teach in Oman ? thanks..

No, it's 60, but if you're working for someone and turn 60 your employer can request that your visa be renewed, regardless.

There is a 69 year old working for the colleges of higher education, he was hired less than a year ago. There is also a 61 or 62 year old working for them, also hired within the last 6 months.

I am one of those quite aged people - I work with the MoHE. I believe the age limit is now 58, so the ads say. However, I know there is a woman who is 65+ working for the MoHE and has just renewed her contract. I don't think age is the problem, I think it is more health, both mental and physical. If you have both, you are ok and you will probably be renewed. I would apply if I were older than 58 and take the chance. Just make sure you meet the mental and physical requirements and have the work experience.
