|
|
My husband and I just contracted a 5 bedroom house for one year. Unfortunately, we couldn't find something decent that was within our price range...........housing prices have gone up in Jakarta and it's outside our budget. We are now looking for 'room mates', for lack of a better term. It's in a very nice, quiet area in West Jakarta.
There are 2 small rooms with an Indo style toilet upstairs and 2 large bedrooms that will be standing empty on the main floor with another bathroom(our bedroom has its own bathroom, so no need to share with us). All are up for grabs to the right people. People renting downstairs will have use of kitchen facilities, etc while people upstairs will be basically renting 'kost' style(no kitchen facilities, etc. but private entrance to the upper floor.
If anybody is interested, feel free to email as at grafx_factory *at* yahoo.com and we can let you know more about it. |

Another way of describing some of the teachers' accomodation offered by certain franchise chains. |

Sorry, that's unfair of me. Most Indo style toilets have more furniture and fittings than that. |

Actually, we're a private couple- me a teacher, my husband an Indonesian journalist - not a franchise. The smaller rooms (approx 10m2 each, normal sized bedrooms) are offered for a cheaper rate to people whose budgets don't allow them to rent something expensive and because they only have an Indonesian toilet. The larger rooms (approx 20m2 and 14m2) in the main part of the house have a regular Western style toilet. No teacher working for EF would ever be given a house like this by thier managers. I've seen how EF teachers live. Usually shacked-up together in a shared-housing situation where they have no control over who they live with. Piddly little sub-standard houses with leaking roofs, mold growing on the walls and tiles, thieves and spys for maids and abysmal surroundings. And they make teachers pay for that! hahaha
Our house has a washer and dryer(a REAL one), a REAL oven, a 29" TV, IndoVision satelite, DVD player, DVDs that people are free to watch, 2 fridges, toaster oven, dishes for use in the kitchen, stereo, dining room table, sofa and chair, bookshelves, office desks, maid service, a front and back yard that can be used for BBQs or to sit outside and read or whatever, driveway, garage, no traffic on the street to speak of, trees and greenery around the neighbourhood, etc. 1 block from a main road that leads to the toll road, shopping, etc. Try and get that from a franchise.
The smaller rooms are going to be rented out kost style with a shared bathroom and have a separate entrance. No need to come through the main house.
Like I said, we ended up with a very nice house but it's outside our budget, so out of necessity, we need to contract out the other rooms. Hopefully we can find some responsible people who don't spend every minute off-the-job at Stadium or Millenium, whacked off their faces. We lead a pretty quiet life-style. |
