I read news that japan has a low turnout for blood donaters. I would like to volunteer. How does one go about donating blood in the tokyo area with limited japanese speaking ability? |

If you are English or have been to England recently then you can forget about it. The BSE problem has meant that no one in Japan will take any blood which has the remotest chance of being infected. I tried to give blood but was told I counldn't for this reason. |

Nevermind that, I've read somewhere (accuracy of this statement in question, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit) that although they will accept your blood, it will be thrown out or disposed of summarily because you are a foreigner. I wouldn't donate blood in Japan... At least not unless someone disproved the above statement for me. |
