This post isn't necessarily about work in Riga but I thought maybe someone could have some local knowledge on accommodations there. Specifically, I am looking at going there for the final week of the Ice Hockey World Championships in May. I wrote an email to the travel agency purported to be handling hotel and visa enquiries but I had no response. Then I thought, "hey, maybe there are a few Dave's ESL Cafe users who could provide some insight!" I'm looking for something comfortable and clean, that's all. And is a visa mandatory for everyone entering the country (as this travel agency seemed to suggest)? I am Canadian but I have a British passport right now.

While in Riga I would like to visit some local private schools in any case, to touch base for a future project, so any info on that area would also be appreciated.

Thanks!
