Hello - Just wondering if someone could fill me in on the private lessons scene in Oaxaca, or if its even a possibility to make a living that way. My boyfriend and I have been teaching in spain one year and were thinking of heading to Oaxaca now, mostly because Id like to work more on the BFA ceramics degree I earned, while teaching english only part-time.
Does anyone have experience with giving private lessons and might be willing to share experiences? Any other insights into Oaxaca would be great as well...Im reading that its more expensive than one might think. Bummer.
Any thoughts are welcome. Thank you! |

You won't make much money. One of my co-workers lived in Oaxaca for four years. She taught part-time at a uni and did private lessons, and never pulled in more than about 5000 pesos a month. That was two years ago, but I don't think that things have improved much since then.
It's too bad there isn't more of a TEFL market there; it's a great city. |
