Any thoughts on these books and learning series?I have been using it lately with my students and getting good feedback.Am also in need of small, pocket sized text books or practice books.I just signed a contract with a woman's advocacy group here in Tijuana to take on thirty students. These are all ladies trying to leave thier professions in TJ's red light district. If the books are small enough they can practice when business is slow and keep them hidden from the padrotes. As it is we have to have the classes in the back of a hair salon to foil padrote spies. So portability is key.Any thoughts or ideas on suppliers? |

Sounds like a good situation in which to go textbook-free. Why not get each student a media carta size notebook and make a text to suit their needs? If you make them copies, make sure to reduce it to half page size (then put two on a page to save yourself photo copies) and bring a couple of glue sticks with you to class so they can paste it into their notebook. One of my favorite ELT gurus, Scott Thornbury has written and talked extensively on the "materials light" approach to ELT teaching, this sounds like a perfect group of student to use that methodology with.
Keep up the good work. |
