I am interested in finding a university job teaching conversational/business English. My goal is to learn the language and culture. Any position which pays enough to cover rent, utilities and food would be adequate. Some place off the beaten path would be more interesting to me than Moscow or St. Petersburg. I have an MS in Management and TEFL cert. plus 1 year of relevant Uni. teaching experience.

Any ideas would be appreciated

here's a couple of links with lists of universities in Russia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_universities_in_Russia

I would suggest looking at the websites of universities in cities you would like to go to and contacting each university's International Department. They probably wouldn't advertise teaching positions, but might give you a job if you write to them directly?? Another idea would be to enroll into "Russian studies/language for foreigners" courses at a university and come to Russia as a student and then teach part time??

Also, you could check out scholarship/grant programs that allow Americans (if you are American?) study or work in Russia for some time? Here are some websites -

Good luck!
