Yes, here we go again. I am a very youthful 50s guy with 10 years experience and no degree. Is it realistic to find ok to reasonable language training school and/or corporate training work? I am really not interested in K to 12 or NET programs, and so on, and I suppose, they are not interested in me. How about hustling up privates? Rates for same?

I've had 2.5 years in China primarily SH at a Wall St-modelled organization and as a DOS.

My de facto wife is a HK citizen and we are thinking of doing a Business Registration and getting some private clients. (She is a Mandarin teacher).

Look forward to your POSITIVE feedback however after reading a lot of the posts I better be ready for anything. On the other hand, I hope this topic isn't so boring and unoffensive as to be ignored.

The NET scheme would certainly be interested in you with your experience and the number of unfilled posts. You'd have to prove, however, that your permanent residence is outside HK to get the housing allowance.
Alternatively, as your wife is a HK resident, you can presumably get a dependent's visa that entitles you to work in HK and then have the choice of individual students, language schools, corporate training etc. You'd face the same issues as anywhere of initially drumming up local interest, but there are plenty of language schools looking for staff and HK parents are always on the lookout for extra teaching for their kids. I think the going rate is about $300 an hour and believe you can do it on a personal basis without a business registration.
