I notice the HK$ has depreciated greatly against the CAD$ over the last 18 months. Have salaries remained the same over this period? Is Hong Kong now a less attractive place for Canadians to work?
Currency wise, Brits, Americans and Aussies have all fared better over the last 2 years. What's going on with the CAD? Do you convert your salary into US$ or CAD$? |

The Hong Kong dollar is pegged to the US dollar. No adjustment of salary is made if the dollar rises or falls. When I started the Hong Kong dollar was about 11 to the pound but now it is over 14 and has been as high as 15. Australians and Canadians have suffered a similar fate. |
