anyone seen A DAY WITHOUT MEXICANS?
No dunkin donuts, Mc Donalds, Burguer King, Starbucks, Sears, Crispy cream,
Saludos a tod@s.
Fraternalmente:
Sebastin Lpez, adherente a la Sexta.

So, do you suggest that all immigrants protest, or just the legal ones who do have rights to these services? |

I will take off work on May 1st to show solidarity. Well, I will take it off because it is a holiday, but the sentiment is the same. |

Well, none of that stuff exists with hours of here, so I guess I'm supporting it.... |

Please only comment on the content not the Espaol. Thanks. cwc |

A Day without Mexicans? Haha. Well, that movie glossed over the Central Americans.
Anyone check with the mods? I don't think posts are allowed in foreign languages, it makes it hard for them to mod them.
Kind of funny because Sears is owned completely by Carlos Slim, has been since the late 1990's.
One movie I would like to see is the Day with a Gringo.
Housekeepers show up to work but don't get paid. Machines stop working because no one fixes them. All the Mexican workers have to go home because they have no one to work for. Mexican kids go hungry because there is no more corn to make torillas. |

And until a few of weeks ago, Allied Domecq owned Dunkin' Donuts. It was bought out by another French company, Pernod Ricard, which sold Dunkin' Donuts to 3 US-based private equity firms.
I'm sure boycotting Dunkin' Donuts will help out Tim Horton's (Are they American now, too, or still Canadian?) |

It doesn't say anything about language here http://www.eslcafe.com/forums/job/viewtopic.php?t=27098
but it is kind of rude, considering many people have mentioned that they don't have a workable level of Spanish yet.
On the other hand, this is a board about Mexico, where Spanish is the main language.
Maybe they should make one of us bilinguals a mod of this forum? |

What exactly do you mean with hours of here? Please proofread your posts. It makes it difficult for me, being a rookie, to understand. En buena onda. No te enchiveas! |

I think he meant "within hours of here." But that's just a guess.

Apparently, there was a good sized march in Mexico City. I got there late so I only got to see a bunch of police cleaning up.
They stopped at the US embassy to shout a bit and leave some signs.

The rally in Chicago was awesome - literally the largest amount of people I've seen in one place. The news is estimating that the crowd here was the largest in the country, at around 400,000. And it all went off peacefully, with no arrests reported. The crowd was predominantly latino, but there were a fair amount of Polish, Chinese, Korean, and Arabic immigrants representing, as well. It sounds cheesy, but it all felt rather historic, and vaguely democracy-reaffirming. I hope the higher-ups were listening. |

I got a little nervous about going downtown, but for the sake of being "fair and balanced" I went to the Plaza de las Estrellas Galerias Mall! It was very busy. McDonald's was busy, though I'm not sure if it was less busy than usual. 'Dominoes' had its share of customers. Overall I don't think American-based companies in Mexico City need worry.
I decided to avoid making a political statement of any kind and went to the Chinese buffet! |
