Sometimes, I feel like I'm not a good teacher, but then I came across this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIQKJyg05c0&search=teaching

...and now I've reconsidered my methods as phenomenal by comparison.

Not sure what the context for this lesson is - perhaps the 'teacher' was asked to do anything for the sake of looking like this school had English classes. But, just look at his/her(?) own TPR - what an imitation of basketball, for example!!!! I wonder if the kids have any idea of what they are repeating.

Is this comparable to your own teaching?

He says he had no prep time - bad excuse - a good teacher always has something in their mind which requires NO resources (other than a Black board) that they can use in times of trouble.

is almost as bad. But at least she has a goal. I would forgive her if this is a grammar lesson.

That is painful to watch. And what kind of accent is the 2nd person? I can't even understand it. I know you use gestures and you can mime some things...but he seemed to be going overboard.

I'm curious as to why someone would agree to be shoved into a room and told to teach without warning or pay.

I could have sworn I posted on this thread last night. I didn't think what I said was that bad. Shocked

This Thing/Hebitch/Ladyboy is a recent graduate of saint57's diploma mill. Seriously though, I think everyone needs to watch this video.

With the rush to draft in any ole foreigner into their school, I guess there could be a lot of people out there teaching like that. I hope that China's growing enthusiasm of ESL doesn't lead them to stab themselves in the throat in much the same way as South Korea seems to have gone. Just because we're native English speakers, doesn't automatically make us English teachers. There needs to be screening and standards to make an effective growth of English language training.
