Ok, so I got some confusing news from a university regarding a work permit, and I need your expertise to help me understand exactly what's going on. Here's what my prospective employer said:
This is what our Personnel Head could squeeze out of the moron at the
Security Dept. (Istanbul Emniyet Genel Mudurlugu):
Yes, the YOK will issue you a work permit since you have a residence permit. When it is time for extending your residence permit the Emniyet people want your passport. Will there be a problem when they see no work visa in your passport? Believe it or not, the guy at the Emniyet said, "I don't know what my directors will say." He didn't let her talk to the directors. He said, get the work permit and apply for an extension, then you will find out. This is unbelievable, but no matter how much our personnel head pressed she couldn't get a definite answer. So, our University will accept you without a work visa and get your work
permit from YOK. When it is time for extending your residence permit,
there is a possibility that they may want a work visa, which means going
to the USA.
What does that mean? If I have the work permit, why wouldn't they renew the residence permit? Isn't the residence permit really easy to renew anyways? Does anybody understand what this means?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give. |

i got my work permit recently and the guy at the emniyet just wrote something in my residence permit, and that was that. So, don't sweat it. They all know things don't work that well here, and the univs have a special deal with getting work permits, so you should be ok. And that univ is lucky to have you, btw, as I have heard very good things about you |

It is wonderful to hear of a teacher getting a work permit, which we know is our legal right in Turkey.
It is such a shame, not to mention a scam, that all teachers in Turkey do not get work permits.
Those managers who support these scams should face justice. |

Duh-no.
The chain scum schools will not process and pay for work permits because it costs them time and money. Besides why would they want their victims to be legal? |
