Besides ECC in Phuket, are there any other places that offer a CELTA course in Phuket? I'm thinking of taking TESOL but, I don't know if it will be as recognized as the CELTA. What's the difference between the two in terms of syllabus and learning? Do they focus more on grammar?

Do you mean Trinity TESOL? "TESOL" is not a certificate- it's a general class of education and teaching, for these purposes the same as TEFL. CELTA and Trinity TESOL are particular certificates. The CELTA and Trinity certificates are basically the same in terms of content; CELTA is more common, but there aren't many places which won't accept Trinity as equivalent. None of the other certificates come near to these two in terms of recognition. |

Isanity - I meant a TESOL certificate from a four week course like TEFL international. I wanted to know if there is a place that offers CELTA in PHuket besides ECC? I also wondered about the differences in content between a four week TESOL and a CELTA. I know the CELTA is geared towards adults and is recognized worldwide but, other than that, what is difference between them? I hope this clarifies. |

The CELTA is a four-week TESOL- other than what you've mentioned, there is no real difference. (CELTA is probably the most rigorous in terms of assessment, but there's no body which compares different courses, and very few people have done more than one). The "CELTA is for adults" thing can be overstated: I did the Text and Talk course, which had very little on differences between teaching adults and children, and (other than tone) there's not much difference between TEFL materials designed for children and adults.
As far as I know there's no other CELTA course on Phuket. |
