Do you think that a worker should pay to build their own place of work? For, without a place of work, how could they work and earn a salary?
Perhaps someone could supply answers to these questions. |

What ARE you talking about? Could you be more specific? Have they handed you a hammer or asked you to go out and buy paint?

Sure. ASD have posted a huge Capital Levy fee. When asked what this was for, they stated it was for the building of a new school. Furthermore, they added that, without the new school, there would be no room for new students. Therefore, parents have to donate money towards the building of their new school; thus my cryptic (not really) comments.
A suggestion: as in commerce, why do not parents become share-holders? The school is built for a transient, ex-pat community; thus, when an individual ex-pat family leaves, they could simply sell back the shares. |

Interesting concept... I have never heard of expat teachers having to invest in their employer. I know that in places where there had not been a good expat school available, parents have helped financially to set it up. That happened in Sharjah some years back.
The idea of 'shares' is a good idea, but would it work? But I don't think that the teachers should have to pay unless they are getting top of the scale salaries.

Because then the people who are raking off the profits have to share them, and that's no fun at all for them.
Ever think about forming an educational cooperative with other parents? Use home-schooling as a core activity, and have qualified parents offer small, specialized classes as appropriate. Face it: Nobody is ever going to take care of, or educate, your kids as well as you can. As a teacher, you know the compromises that are made in "Education: The Business". And you know that the quality of international schools has gone down as their prices have increased. |
