MOD EDIT
My name is Ryan and and I have lived in Taiwan for 1.5 years. I came here from Canada with my girlfriend. We first came into contact with Robert through email when we were looking for places to teach overseas. He sent us a lot of FAQ about Taiwan and him, sent us pictures of him and his wife, as well as a lot of past teachers emails to contact and reference him. After we decided to come for sure, he even started calling us at our house in Canada to see if we were all set. We arrived in Taiwan and were personally picked up by Robert and driven to his house in Doulio where we were to stay for a few days. We were imediately introduced to many foreigners and invited to parties and get togethers. During these few days staying at his house he also took me to his school to get some training to see what it was like to teach, he took us to the hospital to get our medical exams, he found a scooter for me to purchase, he hooked me up with a cell phone and he took us to find an apartment, letting us see a few and deciding which one we liked. He did all of this and also took time to take us out for a few dinners, some drinks and many trips to the bar. He introduced us to our schools and we were on our way.
After we were settled in to our own place, he made sure to call frequently to see if everything was alright, to see if our schools were alright and to walk us through the ARC process. He always made sure to invite us out whenever there were baseball games, parties or any other social gathering.
I had a pretty rough go health-wise when I first started in Taiwan. After about a month here I got pneumonia pretty bad and had to miss about 2 weeks of school. During this time Robert made sure to call everyday to see how I was feeling, made sure to contact my school for me to let them know what was happening, and even show up for a hospital visit in Doulio to see if I needed anything. Unfortunately for me, I had many more illnesses after that and had many different trips to the hospital, suffering from hives to the kidney stones and everything in between. Robert always made sure to call as soon as he found out, to see how I was feeling and was always there to give advice.
I think Robert did an excellent job as a recruiter. He did everything he told us he would do for us during our initial correspondence and even a bit further. I have recommended Robert's services to many of my friends, who in turn have journeyed to Taiwan with his help. I will continue to do so because my experience with him was enjoyable and went very smoothly.
Some people on the other thread seemed to wonder why no one but a few teachers were coming to Roberts aid. I can only speak for myself but it's taken a long time to get confirmation for access to the site. I also signed up at buxiban.com but I'm still waiting for access. I can assure you that there are many satisfied teachers who have used Roberts services and prehaps they are in the same situation as me....just waiting for access. |

Have you tried logging in?
I am not sure why but the people who are apparently trying to voice support for Robert seem to be having an awful lot of trouble figuring out that you need to try logging in after you register rather than assuming that you don't have access. Select your user type, enter your username, enter your password, and there you have it. You're in! |
