Asociacin Nacional Universitaria de Profesores de Ingls
Does anyone know anything about this organization? Are any of you members?
There's a conference up the coast in Acapulco this September. Here's the link: www.anupi.org.mx
Has anyone ever been to one of their conferences? |

I've never been, but have met the "president" of ANUPI, he's a president in the same sort of way Fidel Castro is . Not that its not a good and growing organization that has a lot to offer, but its his pet project and he's been the president since before it was started.
A teacher who used to work here gave a presentation at their first conference, which was in Cancun. She said it was a really good conference. Cancun was too far for me to go, and its to close in time to the MEXTESOL national convention, so for me its been a choice between the two, and MEXTESOL was more of a sure thing (long history, international speakers, etc.). And I've been kind of busy with personal things the last couple of years, I've let professional development slide.
I know that's not much help, but no one else has responded. |

Hi everyone
Just bringing this topic back to the surface because I think this year's conference (Sept 29, 30, and Oct 1) is going to be really great. Especially this one workshop about Mind Mapping by some chick from the Mixteca. |

THat's great!. I think I've heard of this Mixteca chick-she's famous throughout Oaxaca. I'll try and make it up, and hopefully get a small home team cheering section going. Now if only we can get the powers that be to loosen the pure strings a bit-that's always been the problem, at least down here on the coast. |

Actually the powers that be will be paying for the speaker's trip.
The problem is that they don't see the benefits of paying for mearly attending...
Maybe if from the three UMARs you got enough people to go to fill a van, they'd send you in a van, it could leave from Huatulco and fill up as it heads up the coast. OR better yet, it could leave from the Istmo if you got any of them interested in going. (Anyone down there reading this?) We usually get a van to take 8 or so people to Mexico City for the Best of British shindig, they don't pay our way other than transport with one of our crazy drivers (I almost perfer to pay for the bus), but it helps. (They think they are being generous by not docking pay for days missed to attend! ) |
