Greetings,

I recently graduated from college and I am looking to teach in Spain. I recently submitted my resume to a recruiting agency and they emailed me back stating they have found a job for me. What I need to do next is send them $150 and they will send me the contract and visa info. This seems a little to good to be true. How can I found out if the job offer and agency is not a scam.
Thanks,
jm

Wish I knew bro. I have to say I would be skeptical though but then again I am more jaded then I once was. I will say kudos for choosing Spain, I spent the summer teaching there and think its a cool country to be-not litteraly of course!

Sounds VERY suspicious. Are you North American? The visa process is incredibly complicated for non-E.U. people and I would really doubt that an agency could take care of it for you for $150. Do they tell you what school the offer is from? Can you talk to people who have gone through them?

Who is this agency? This sounds like a total scam.

Besides, you don't need to hire a recruitment agency before coming to Spain. I can only talk about Madrid, where I live, but here the demand is very high for English teachers and many academies and agencies are caught up in a recruitment frenzy.

So listen, DON'T TAKE JOB OFFERS until you get here. I can give you a list a list of academies that are hiring, if you are interested. Do you have a TEFL certificate?

Later gator,

Phil
