I am on my way to the US in June and I am wondering if my wife, a Chinese can extend her passport in the U.S.

She is coming on a tourist visa to visit my parents, but her passport will expire in December.

I am aware of the 6-month rule that state a person has to have 6 months validity prior to leaving the US before entering.

But can she just extend the validity of her passport in the US by just going to the Embassy in New York?

Has anyone here ever been through this kind of dilemma before?

Any and all advice would be very greatful.

Thanks deeply in advance.
