How are the interviews different when you get over there and start applying to schools in-country? I assume they're less concerned with whether or not you can make it in a foreign culture, but what else is different?
Btw, I hate to ask about two unrelated issues, but just a quick question, here: The Nova application asks if you can have 120,000 yen when you arrive. Is it a big deal if you can't and how would you go about doing that, anyway? |

Don't know anything about 1, but 2.... It isn't as if they're going to check to see if you have that much when you step off the plane. As far as going about doing that - go to your bank and place an order for however much yen you want to bring and they'll withdraw it out of your bank account at the exchange rate of that day.
If you live frugally, you may be able to make it on just the 120,000 salary advance until your first paycheck. I opted for the salary advance, just in case, but I never had to dip into it. |

By saving your money instead of spending it? You can change the currency over in Japan, although it would be smart to have at least a couple of hundred dollars worth in yen (2, 3 man- 20,000 or 30,000Y) before setting foot in the country. You can change it at major banks in major cities. |
