|
|
Hello everyone, I'm obviously new here. I've been talking to a few schools in Mexico and Korea. Basically I have a couple of questions: Firstly, does anyone know anything about Escuela Sierra Nevada? I have been offered a position as an elementary teacher there. It is a private school in D.F. If anyone has info, it would be much appreciated.
Secondly, my visa will be taken care of by the school, but I'm not sure what to do about my wife's visa. I am a Canadian citizen but she is only a perminent resident (she is currently still a Colombian citizen). She is a native Spanish speaker as well as speaking English fluently. She doesn't however have a university degree so wont be able to teach English. In Mexico she would be looking to study a bit and probably work part-time. Would we just need a dependent visa to start and then apply for a working visa once there? It also might be more difficult seeing as how she is Colombian. I'm sure she could do some 'unofficial' private tutoring, but I'd rather try to keep things on the "up and up".
Sorry for the long post. Any info is muchly appreciated.
Thanks |

Probably, your wife, as a Colombian, can come in on a tourist visa. But don't take my word for it! Then once your have your FM3 in hand, you have to get your wife a dependent FM3, this can't be filed until you have yours and it has to be filed before her tourist visa runs out. That shouldn't be a problem if she makes sure she gets a full 90 days on her tourist visa. A depenent visa will NOT allow her to work. If she wants to work legally she'll have to find a company that will help her file for a work visa for herself. That will be difficult unless she has some amazing skill that is rare among Mexicans (like being a native English speaker! )
Best of luck to you! |
