Anybody have special plans? My department is having a little fiesta, more so to celebrate the end of exams than maestro day, but Ill take what I can get!
Cheers, Sami

We have the day off and double pay. I just got home from stuffing myself at a Da del Maestro breakfast buffet at the Hyatt. To show how my luck runs, there were 4 door prizes: 2 DVD players and 2 TVs. I had number 76. Numbers 75 and 77 won prizes. Sad

I had the day off. Have done nothing special with it, and the day's almost over!
On friday the school provided a catered lunch for all the teachers. It was very nice. They had door prizes too. About a dozen sony digital cameras were given away. Unfortunately I didn't win one. They also honored the teachers of the year for each department. I actually won that for my division (english, secondary school). I got a nice pen for my efforts. Smile

The owner took 70 of us to a Brazilian restaurant that serves about 15 cuts of roasted meat on skewers. They give you a little of each and you can keep up for a while, but then you have to start being selective. The veal and sirloin were my favorites. There was an open bar. There were ten 2,000 peso door prizes and a Compaq laptop with a case. Unlike X-mas, when I won a TV, I struck out today. However, my buddy won 2,000 pesos.

That's funny. When I taught in Mexico we also got taken out to a Brazilian restaurant that did the whole meat on skewers thing.

The restaurant invaded my dreams. I also woke up really hungry. Im ready to go again, but the 350 pesos/person hurts a little. The problem is that it is very close to my house, about 400 meters.

I had the day off. One of the teachers made lunch for us at her house, though most people brought a little something to add to it. Pretty mellow. Then today some of my students brought cake to class.

I worked. No rest for the wicked.

I got a small gift from a private student...a box of Ferrero Roche chocolates. My wife liked them.

Hi

I opened my newspaper here in Korea yesterday and saw pictures of what seemed to be a nasty protest on Teachers Day in Mexico City.

Something about teachers wanting better pay and working conditions?
