Help a newbie??

I'm just about to accept a summer contract (finishing end of August) with this mob. Apparently, English First has a new centre here.

Can anyone give me any pointers -- either on English First as an employer or Jiaxing as an area in which to teach?

Any comments will be greatly appreciated!! Private Messages welcome.

TIA, David.

There must be close to a thousand threads regarding EF in general on this forum alone. Use the search feature. You say this particular EF center is new. Personaly I would not go to a school who have yet to deal with foreigners. The only thing going through the minds of the leaders there is the money. This would often invlove you as the foreigner to recruit the students in the form of out-of-contract-hours publicity. Be weary.

New schools/centers require a lot of advertising and a nice "white face" comes handy there. Then, they also need to learn how to deal with foreigners and that's for sure.
With regards to "mob", EF surely is one.
I've recently heard of some "restricitons" on new franchised centers openings in China and it's directly come in connections to EF. Sorry I can't provide more details on that though.
OP, I'd make sure it's a legitimate EF center with a legitimate/standard EF employment contract offer. Otherwise, it depends on your intentnions of how long you wish to stay in on the job or in China.

Cheers and beers

Some EF employers around China have joined a "union", but EF Head Office and its Shanghai centers haven't
