I've been teaching in Catania for the last 2 years at a private language school and also at a state school. Everything's going well but I'd prefer to work in a quieter town. I've been thinking about Trapani and Siracusa. Can anyone give me any advice on schools in these towns? I know there is one school in Trapani and from reading previous postings it doesn't sound like a good school but the information was from a few years ago and things could have changed.

I second that, stay clear of Trapani. Siracusa is a lovely place to live and work, much more tranquil that Catania Embarassed. I worked in Enna for a year too and i think you would be hard pressed to find a quiter small town in all of Sicily. But i recommend you to stay near the coast, the people are happier and life goes by better. Stay clear of Gela and Agrigento too. Messina needs a lick of paint (or several thousand). I know someone with a good school in Acireale, a smallish town near Catania if you want the address.
