Hello everyone,
Does anyone have information on Wenzhou Vocational and Technical College? I have done a search and have not come up with anything constructive.
The representive/recruiter? said they are interested in me for the fall semester to start September 10th. I was given one teachers email address to contact. Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Duke |

My good friend worked with them a couple years ago. The teachers apartments were not of good quality, so they gave him a few thousand extra each month to live in a nice apartment off campus.
I visited him there one time, the city has alot of power failures which I were told has improved a little recently. Which, if you are in the midst of one (as we were) it lasted all day in 100 degree heat.
He didnt like the FAO or the schedule, but it didnt seem like too bad a place from the little I saw. |

Hi WordUp,
Thanks for the information. I just recived a sample contract and the schedule does not sound that great. It is vague and I could be doing a bunch of different things both on and off campus and during vacation periods if I read the contract right..
Thanks again,

You know, now that you mention it, he was always complaining about the schedule. |

After going back and forth on this contract I think I might accept the job. I have never taught at a college(or in China) and I am concerned I might have overlooked something. Any experiences would be appreciated.
Thanks |

Most contracts will be vague, it's the nature of the game. It's up to you to ask your prospective employer specifics and to get assurances in writing and, if necessary, in your contract. The "looser" your contract is, the more they can take advantage of you and the unhappier you will be. From your very brief posts (not much info on your vague contract), I smell a midnight running coming up should you accept this job. |

Thank you Kevin, I enjoy reading your posts. I didn't mention specifics because there were quite a few. Examples "And usually there might be a weekly maximum of 5 periods outside the classroom". "During the summer and winter vacations, the salary will be paid to Party B as usual under the condition that Party B can fulfill the short-term tasks assigned by Party A".
There were others I changed but I have decided not to take the position(good comment about the midnight run), there are more September postions becoming available.
But really what I am interested in asking to you all, Was there something you didn't think about or were unaware of when signing your first contract in China?.
Thanks and have a good weekend.
