I am in South Korea and have about 80 students. Ranging from the ages of 5 to 15.
What I would like to do is develop conversation between the students of different nations. We have projector, webcam and microphone; so we would be able to talk to you and then see you talk. I thought this would be a good way to exchange ideas and culture. Maybe make things more interesting!
If you are interested, please pm me. |

fiveeagles--
I'd love to except my students are in uni. I've been trying to set something like this up, using Dave Sperlings Internet Activity Workbook as a guide. It's a great book, but the logistics of connecting students with students in other countries has been frustrating so far.
Any tips? |

Jizzo,
I'd be interested, if you are in the US (I'm in Japan), let's try and do this. |

I've been trying to get something like this going too for awhile now, but the logistics of time zones makes it difficult. I'd be available in May to give it a try, with evening groups in Mexico City, mostly adults or uni-aged.
Fiveeagles, what platform are you using for software? I've tinkered with Messenger and Yahoo chat rooms. |

The semesters (terms) here run from:
Spring: January--beginning of May
Summer: mid-May--beginning of August
Fall: mid/late August--mid December
I'd actually prefer email correspondence since that would do away with most of the problems due to time zones. The main thing is that the teachers would have to have a clear idea of each assignment (I was thinking maybe once a week?) and would have to keep on the students to respond.
Perhaps initiating a sort of syllabus would be in order? I put up a link to the student forums here at Dave's but the majority of my students have yet to use them.
I also had my students create blogs and comment on each other's posts...maybe that could be extended as well? |

I am open to anything. I have found some online software where we could do online conferences. Where up to 36 kids could be interacting.
MSN or skype would work as well.
Thanks for the replies. |

Jizzo and Guy - I'm really interested in setting up something. My students are all adults, and we do mainly evening classes, but just emailing would be a nice idea. Also, for anyone else with younger students, we're setting up a summer school where I work, and we would love to have students corresponding with people in other countries (particularly the older students - perhaps 11-15) so they can do group projects or something similar. If anyone is interested in working with me on either of these projects, give me a shout.
