(I have heard it all before so, PLEEEEZ, let's not turn this into an ET bashing....)

I have an upper int level student who would like to join a weekend class at a dershane in Istanbul. I haven't lived in Istanbul for quite some time so I am well out of the loop. Do you have any advice for him?

Personally, I hate that students often have to sign a contract trapping them for 6 or 9 months. Is there anywhere that doesn't do that?

Perhaps you know of a particular class with a good teacher that my student could join...? (It is better to PM me with that info, me suppose.)

Hey, does anyone know how the English Centre in Şişli is doing?

It may be they can't think of any where the students needn't commit to a half year at a time before setting foot in the classroom... I would still recommend EF Suadiye because I know a lot of the teachers there and they are a competent, experienced bunch but I don't know about the marketing/admin side of things...

The lack of response certainly does tell you that something is seriously wrong with TEFL in Istanbul.

If the student can afford it, private lessons or time in an English speaking country.

He's been doing private lessons with me for a year. But a change will be good for him and he'd enjoy the weekend nights in Istanbul FAR more than the weekend nights here.

He can't go abroad as he is working.

Tekirdag, 3 out of the 5 posts are your own ... that's worse than me ...
