My boss has been making innuendoes about not paying my vacation and airfare money reimbursement. If he follows through on his threats, Do I have any recourse?
Does anyone know the address of the Foreign Expert Certificate office in Guangzhou?
Any information is greatly appreciated. |

Is it stated in the contract that the employer, i.e. party A, would pay you, i.e. party B, vacation?
Please tell us what your contract says exactly about airfare reimbursment.

I don't wish to raise your hopes to unrealistically high levels but you can take recourse via the following:
- Education epartment of Guangdong Province
Department of Foreign Experts
Dongfeng Donglu 723,
Guangzhou 510080
(That's in Dongshan District)
Telephone 3762 6945; 3762 6261, 3762 7706
Fax 3762 7231;
Note: the above 3 phone numbers are those of the "Deputy Director General', 'Division Chief' and 'Vice Division Chief' respectively - I doubt the same individuals are still occupying their positions as they did several years back.
- Department of FOreign Experts at P.S.B. of Guangdong Province
Huanghua Lu 97
Guangzhou 510051
telephone 8383 8980; fax 8311 9385 |

If you fail in the above recourse you can always threaten to expose the school on a blacklist. Some schools have been known to straighten up when threatened with being blacklisted.
If he does screw you over, you do need to report it to a blacklist so that it doesn't happen again. |

As has already been outlined by others you do have recourse if there is a breach of contract or if you can prove that you were misled. The easiest way to do this is by producing something in writing that shows the promises that were made and then broken i.e. the contract.
Before seeking such recourse however I would recommend that you ensure that you are 100% legal as any question of legality can undermine any case that you may have against your employer.
Any more information that that will probably require you to post some of the contract details here. |

Are you teaching legally -- proper visa and permits, Foreign Expert certificate.
If not, you may not have much practical recourse without ending up in trouble yourself.
