Ok, so it's not strictly a teaching post but wanted to get the word out on more than just tealit. My apologies.

Taichung - Room available in 3 bedroom apartment located on 5th floor.

Available from 17th July.

Located on Mofan St in Taichung City. Close to Peoples park and NOVA. Its an excellent location within the city.

Rent is NT$7,500 per month (elevator and service charges included but bills are extra.)

The apartment is quite large and has 2 bathrooms, AC, kitchen, washing machine, ADSL and wireless access, telephone, cable TV.

Room to rent has a double bed, computer desk, bookshelves, closet, AC, bed-side table and another smaller desk.

PM me your email address and I can send you some pictures of the room and the apartment, further information or you can arrange to visit.

Thanks,

Shaun

What a rip-off. You can get an awesome three-bedroom apartment to yourself for that price.

Actually, the whole apartment is 15,000 and there will only be 1 person and the person who moves in as tenants, so the rent is divided equally. It's a big apartment and comes with everything. I think you are in dreamland if you can get a 3 bed apartment, fully furnished for 7,500 a month. Maybe if you move way outside the city and don't mind having no aircon.

Taichung has been one of the most economically depressed areas of Taiwan for years.
I have heard from several people that rent is increasing in Taichung. Is there any specific reason for this to happen?
Good luck!
A.

Fair enogh, Shaun. But I have lived in Taichung for 3 years, and I think it is a rip-off.

Furthermore, advertising is probably not appreciated by the mods.

Actually rent prices are very good information for teachers who are not in Taiwan.
15,000NT a month is what I pay for my 2 bedroom place in Taipei and it sounds similar to the one described above.

This is Taichung, not Taipei. Rent is a lot cheaper here.

How about rent prices in Kaohsiung? My girlfriend & I are planning on budgeting between 17,000NT to 20,000NT. ($600-$700CDN)

What kind of place are we talking about in this price range? Is this a good amount to expect to pay?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Cheers Surprised

In Kaohsiung I think you'll get something quite nice for 10,000 to 12,000NT$. 20,000NTS would get you something very nice indeed and is far more than most teachers would be prepared to pay.
