Can someone explain to me how people are able to work part time teaching English in Hong Kong?
There seem to be loads part time jobs around but I don't understand how very many expats are permitted to work part time. According to what I've read the standard work visa's are attached to the job you've been offered which has to be full time. If you leave the job you apparently need to re-apply for another visa.
I realise that working holiday visa's exist but the quota of these is pretty small. I've also read about investment visa's but apparently you need to have $1M HKD to invest in order to qualify for these. I'm a bit mystified how it can be done.
Many thanks in advance to anyone who can shed some light on this! |

There are lots of expats here who already have permanent residence as they were here before the handover. There are also people who were on dependant visas before the change in regulations. And also people on dependant visas to permanent residents. |
