As we stumble towards the end of the second Semester we are cheeered up by electronic notification that three months salary is due to appear any day. And then we get a loooong summer holiday.
Can life be so bad ? Even the running dogs over at BAe do not get long holidays like this ! |

I take this to mean they are two months behind? |

But Scot if you add up the annual bonus, meals, laundry, transport, temp bonus and the pay BAE get more than three times what you get. The teachers nearly double their holidays with unofficial holidays given by the CO. |

And those working for the running dogs over at BAe are the most miserable unhappy TEFLers I have ever had the misfortune to meet ! |

I thought this was the standard description of Saudi expat teachers based on reading this section of the board over the years. It had seemed to be a matter of pride for many.
I say whatever makes you happy - or at least contented. Have a good summer Scot47!! Enjoy some cooler climes...

Yes, KFUPM is indeed a most honourable institution. There are others, including the Royal Commission (notwithstanding my recent posting re UCY), and in fairness, BAe isn't the worst from what I'm led to believe.
To me, however, the integrity and professionalism of KFUPM stand out. |

No professional development
no say in changing the curriculum
no independent learning centre for students
lack of teaching facilities
tedious teaching and learning materials
books based on rote learning and teaching methodologies
teachers stuck with creaking infrastructure
accommodation for married couples over 30 years old
'in house' exams invalidates any notion of international status |

Is this format supposed to be a sort of poem or something, Wigwam? If it's a sonnet, it should have another 5 lines, and better rhyming.
Perhaps you are a post-modernist? |
