Particularly Interesting News for those folks living in Guangzhou area..

Foreigners working in Guangzhou will be required declare the details of their personal income taxes starting next month. .

Yes, I've heard about that.

There's also word that the income tax will be strictly applied to all Z visa holders in Shanghai by the end of the year.

And if you are looking for a 'loophole' good luck, as one of the features will be when you (re)apply for a Z visa you will have to show proof of your past years earnings and that the tax was paid.

There's also going to be a new tax for all people working in Shanghai.


Hey, at least you can still go shopping in your pajamas.

In Taiwan---during the 1980S, i DON'T KNOW ABOUT NOW---THERE WAS A LAW REQUIRING FOREIGNERS TO SHOW THEIR TAX RECEIPTS BEFORE THEY COULD GET AN eXIT pERMIT TO LEAVE THE ISLAND.
