Some contributers here seem to have "made it". That's great! Good work! It's the dream of many! Yeah! I'm so happy for you winners.
I'm curious. Could these people:
1. Tell us their academic backgrounds? Must be EFL M.Eds and Ph.Ds from great Western universities. Right? Japan seems so tough they must demand such credentials, right??
2. Post a photo and physical details. With all this stuff about being tall, and looking "right" and dressing "right" this must be important as you went to the top! You guys must be modelesque hunks to land those great jobs! Studs and jocks get to the top, right??? You guys must be hunks!
3. Their previous work experience. Surely Japanese employers care about an international perspective. They want teachers/professors with a great about of international teaching experience! Right? You guys have worked all around the world and have so much to add for your Japanese students! Must be! I admire that.
I'm so eager to learn more and get better qualified to have a chance at the great positions in Japan!!!!
There's some of you with so much advice. I'm so eager to learn more about your great experiences!!!
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I have an M.Ed from Temple University in japan and am enrolled in a PhD. Due to various pressures study has taken a back seat as of late.

DOS,
Are you asking Paul and me for that info, or the people who just got jobs here?
In any case, why should people reply? Your avatar suggests that you've been in Japan at least 3 years. |

Glenski you forgot the 6 years you spent at NASA preparing to ride the Space shuttle before you got bumped by Sally Ride. PhD in aeronautical physics.
He's just being modest. |

Well, I wasn't going to mention it, but since you brought it up about being bumped for a position...
They DID base Doogie Howser, MD after my own personal experience and fail to acknowledge me in the credits. My lawyers are still working on that one. |
