has anyone ever taught ESL as a volunteer at a public library in the US [prior to becoming certified as an ESL teacher and actually teaching ESL in a foreign country]? this is for someone who has never taught English and wants some experience

if so, i'd be interested in hearing your experiences, and also any suggestions on a good basic text to use, how to assess students' ability and knowledge of English, and so on

cheers,

QUeenie
