When does a Teacher get too old too Teach?. I noticed several Teachers at my School not get Contract renewals, when they reach their mid-Thirties. Is this common in Asia?.

				| I can't speak for any other Asian country than Japan. Thirty is not too old! There are plenty of us teachers in their 40's, 50's, and 60's here. I'm 47 and got started at 41. Depends on what kind of teaching job you're looking for. | |

				| Don't give up. One of the best teachers I ever observed was in his 50's. We all feel old sometimes. i'm only 33 and sometimes I feel old. (maybe this is old) | |

				| It depends. I'm a 55 yr old newbie. I got some rejections because of my age but I'm off to China on the 19th with a decent job lined up. Employers who look at the colour of the hair rather than the brain under it deserve what they get. | |

				| Mixed signals from China, but overall, the older the better here! Some schools actively discriminate against youngsters who often are, legitimately, suspected of being here for womanising. Few apply an upper limit, although they often advertise "send recent photo", which is known to be a ruse to check on your attractiveness.
Just today, I was talking to a hirer who asked me about my nationality (which she did not understand in English!), so she asked for a picture, adding "do you look smart?"
I replied I would win all girls' hearts in her classes - and she is still interested ...
