i'm backpacking here at the moment and am in bangkok trying to make a trip from here to krabi. and then off to ko pha-ngan for a bit. and then to surat thani/phuket. do i need to make reservations for a bus or do i just so up at the bus terminals and sit tight until one shows up?

also, off topic but, any place to get good SAFE ink work done in thailand? i'm thinkin phuket, but not sure and wanted to ask the vets here. thx!

I'm fairly sure the universities are still on holiday at the moment, so lots of students will be travelling to and from the beaches. The last time I went from BKK to Krabi during holiday time, I had to book a day in advance.

Just get to the bus terminal and go. Sure you can buy in advance, but if you are at the terminal a few hours easily, you can get a ticket. My only concern would be with the upcoming holiday. Past wednesday and through till next Monday, all bets are off.

Have you thought about flying with Air Asia?

They fly to Krabi from Bangkok and depending on the day can be as cheap as the bus and a lot faster.

For Phuket to Krabi - just go to the bus station on PhangNga road in Phuket Town. The bus ride is about 3 hours and costs about B114 - a real bargain.

Just show up - there is always space on the bus. If it is full you can sit in the aisle.
