Also I've read everything on here about safety issues just wondering opinions for a woman in particular living in colombia?

Ibague is considered the "musical city of Colombia." I don't know much about it, except that it's very hot, at the foot of the mountains, and very calm. Nothing bad ever happens there! 
Don't let the bad press scare you off of Colombia. It's an incredible country with lots to see. Ibague is probably one of the safest places you can be. |
